Angie Brawdy, SPHR, recently named Volunteer Leader of the Year by the Indiana State Council of SHRM.

EHRA is proud to announce that Angie Brawdy, SPHR, was recently named Volunteer Leader of the Year by the Indiana State Council of SHRM at the 2011 HR Indiana Annual Conference in Indianapolis, which was held August 29-31, 2011.  This award recognizes outstanding leadership, motivation, and organizational skills to the development of the Indiana State Council, the Local Chapter, or other SHRM Programs.

For the past 17 years, Angie has devoted herself to giving back to the HR Profession and her local and regional communities.  She has held numerous leadership roles with EHRA, including the positions of Director of Compensation Survey, Director of Professional Development, President-Elect, President and Past President.  As her term of Past President with EHRA was coming to an end, Angie joined the Indiana State Council and now holds the position of Director-at-Large.  In this capacity, Angie helps support the needs of the Indiana state chapters.  She has assisted with growing the state conference and annual awards banquet.  Further, Angie has served on the Council and committee responsible for the State Council’s Pinnacle Award – the back packs program that provided back packs of food to “in need” children.  Additionally, Angie is on the Strategic Planning Committee for the State Council and serves as a mentor to chapter presidents to help their chapters be as successful as possible.  Angie’s volunteer leadership continues through her involvement with Youth First on their HR Committee.

Other past recipients of this prestigious award have included: Michelle Land Harris, PHR (2008), Michael Murphy, SPHR (2009), and Tara Ricketts, SPHR (2010).

The Society for Human Resource Management
has awarded the Evansville-Area Human Resource Association the EXCEL Gold Award for 2010.

The SHRM Affiliate Program for Excellence (SHAPE) has been designed to ensure a strong connection between SHRM and our affiliated chapters from a business perspective.  In addition to clearly outlining our requirements to measure chapter alignment and engagement with SHRM's overall objectives, SHAPE's focus has shifted to activities and initiatives which are more strategic in nature.  These efforts will allow each affiliated chapter to increase its viability and effectiveness, as well as promote the HR profession at the local level.  Additionally, we designed this program to enhance the business acumen of our local volunteer leaders! This new program raises the bar of excellence for our affiliates and introduces the EXCEL Awards - a tiered recognition and awards system.

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the world's largest association devoted to human resource management. The Society serves the needs of HR professionals and advances the interests of the HR profession. Founded in 1948, SHRM has more than 250,000 members in over 140 countries, and more than 575 affiliated chapters.

"This recognition is a distinct indication of the chapter's successful partnership with SHRM to serve the networking and professional development needs of human resource professionals and to the advancement of the human resources profession" noted Pamela J. Green, SPHR, Chief U.S. Membership Officer for SHRM.

EHRA awarded the 2009 Pinnacle Award from SHRM for its Seamless Transition program

On Friday, November 20, 2009, the Evansville Area Human Resource Association was awarded the 2009 Pinnacle Award from SHRM for its Seamless Transition program. The Pinnacle Award honors the highest achievements in affiliate development and contributions by recognizing innovative projects designed and implemented by SHRM Chapters and State Councils. A total of nine awards were presented-seven to Chapters and two to State Councils.

EHRA partnered with the Indiana Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) to assist military personnel with a "Seamless Transition" into the civilian workforce. In 2009, the EHRA provided career counseling services, offering assistance to 500 immobilized military personnel with identifying transferable skills, developing resumes and interview preparation. The EHRA's career counseling initiatives have proven invaluable to military personnel, many of whom have never prepared a resume or interviewed for civilian employment. The EHRA then connected these highly skilled and prospective employees to local employers through the Army's Employer Partnership Initiative and Indiana Guard's job posting websites. Through these partnerships, member employers have also been asked to identify the certifications employers demand, resulting in the military offering certification opportunities to military personnel to facilitate their future transition to civilian employment.

Congratulations to the Chapter and all that were involved with making this program a reality and a success!
