Description
This session will update the EEOC's enforcement agenda, including the following topics:
- Proposed pay data changes to EEO-1 reporting;
- Proposed changes to the EEOC's Enforcement Guidance regarding retaliation and related issues;
- Review of the EEOC's Strategic Enforcement Plan;
- Update on EEOC litigation priorities for 2016 and beyond; and
- Best practices in handling workplace discipline and investigations.
Three Learning Objectives:
Understand the EEOC's proposed changes to EEO-1 reporting and changes to its Enforcement Guidance on workplace retaliation and other related issues.
Identify emerging priorities in EEOC litigation and avoid these hot topic enforcement actions.
Review your approach to conducting investigations and administering discipline to reduce risk of discrimination/retaliation claims.
Speaker
Cory Kuhlenschmidt is a partner with the law firm, Bamberger, Foreman, Oswald & Hahn, LLP. Cory is chair of his firm's Employment Law Section. He works with company owners, executives, and human resources professionals to understand and navigate the complexities of employment law, including discrimination and harassment laws, the Fair Labor Standards Act, ADA and FMLA compliance, and more.
In his employment practice, he assists manufacturers, hospitals, and corporate management with employee hiring, discipline, and termination issues, employee accommodations and medical leaves, wage and hour compliance, union avoidance, drafting and enforcing non-compete and confidentiality agreements, and defending against discrimination claims.
Cory also works with physicians and healthcare facilities to understand and navigate the complexities of healthcare laws and regulations. He assists medical clients with employment agreements, recruiting agreements, and other areas specific to the healthcare industry so they can spend more time focusing on their practice.
Cory is a frequent presenter at seminars discussing employment law compliance issues. He is the author of a monthly newsletter, "Bamberger Labor & Employment Law Alerts," which reviews recent developments in labor & employment law matters, and he is a frequent contributor to his firm's blog, the "Bamberger Blog." He is a native of Evansville, Indiana where he and his wife, Brandi, are raising their two daughters, Audrey and Anna.
